The Back Story Of The Struggle

The back story of The Struggle starts with an event that happened to the author when he was 14 years old. One day, he was lying in his hospital bed when he saw a young girl limping from Lee's room. The girl did not have a disability, and she was from the local high school. She was very sexy. The author asked Lee what he did to the white girl. Lee smiled, and he moved his tongue in and out. The author did not understand.

Lee was a Black teenager from a poor area. When he was 12, his grandfather shot him in the back. After that, Lee could not walk and could not feel from the waist down. Lee was not able to use his penis. He was not able to have sexual intercourse.

The author asked Lee why you moved your tongue in and out? Lee said, “Mother fucker, you is so fucking smart, but you don't know how to use your tongue.” Lee taught the author how to do oral sex to a woman. From 1975 to 1980, each week, more than three girls came to the hospital to see Lee only. Each time they left the room, they walked out limp and very happy.

The author learned about disability and sexuality from the hospital he grew up in from 1970 to 1980. Most people think that people with disabilities do not have sex. For example, when the author was 16 years old, this woman asked him did he have a penis.

Also, in the hospital, most of the people used illegal drugs, and they sold them. There were prostitutes with disabilities and drug dealers with disabilities. The author inculcated all of these experiences.

When the author moved to the college dorm, he discovered that most people think people with disabilities do not have sex, and they did not do anything wrong. Also, the author learned people with disabilities face discrimination. The author decided to be a lawyer. As a lawyer with a disability, the author was subjected to hate and bigotry.

The Struggle is about the author's knowledge concerning sexuality and discrimination related to disabilities. The characters in the book are based on real people. The book may be shocking to people! Because the characters with disabilities do regular legal and illegal activities. They kill, they have sex, they sell drugs, they are rich, they are poor, they are good, they are wrong, they are lawyers, they are criminals, they are fathers, they are mothers, they are entrepreneurs, they are bums, they are losers, and they are winners.

The author wants to thank Lee for inspiring him to write The Struggle.
